Sintren Dance
Sintren is traditional Javanese dance. sintren is well
known in the north coast of Central Java and West
Java (pantura), like Pemalang, Pekalongan, Brebes, Banyumas, Cirebon, Indramayu, and Jatibarang.
The dance is contain magical aura which
adapted from love story of Sulasih and Raden Sulandono. Raden Sulandono was a
child of Ki Bahurekso from his marriage with Dewi Rantansari.
Raden Sulandono
falling in love with Sulasih, whose only a girl from Kalisalak village, but the
love affair did not got bless from Ki Bahurekso. Finally Raden Sulandono lived
as an ascetic and Sulasih became a dancer. But the meeting among both
continuing in fairyland. The meeting arranged by Dewi Rantansari by putting a
fairy soul in to the body of Sulasih, at that moment Raden Sulandono whose on
isolation being called by his mother soul to meet Sulasih, and that how the
meeting happened.
Since it is held every
sintren shows the dancers entered the spirit of beautiful woman bound by diviner,
with a note that things are done when the dancers are truly in a state of pure
(virgin). Sintren played by a girl that
is still sacred, assisted by the diviner and gamelan accompanied 6 people
according Development sintren dance as entertainment and culture with dancers
and assistants' bador '(joke). In the dance art Dewi Lanjar any such effect in
the Sintren dance, diviner (puppeteer) Dewi Lanjar often invite the Spirit to
enter in the Sintren dance. When it is successful then the players can Sintren
look more attractive and bring in more light-footed dance and mesmerize.
Sintren is
very famous and popular in the region, especially Pantura Pekalongan. In the
era before the event is become the communications and entertainment event for
young people and young woman looking for a mate, and also sintren is used as a
mediation request for rain. Now Sintren still often played on the National days
and welcoming dance.
